Priyanka Wadhwa
Hye I Am Priyanka Wadhwa. The scent of glue and the crinkle of colored paper were the hallmarks of my childhood. While other kids played outside, I was lost in a world of construction paper castles, beaded bracelets, and hand-stitched dolls. Art and craft weren’t just hobbies; they were my sanctuary, where imagination took tangible form. At the time, I never imagined these childhood passions would one day shape my future.
Life, however, had its own plans. Marriage and motherhood brought new responsibilities, and my days became a whirlwind of diaper changes, bedtime stories, and endless to-do lists. But through it all, the love for creating never faded—it remained a quiet spark, waiting to be reignited.
It was during this busy phase that I realized my childhood hobby wasn’t just a memory; it was a passion yearning to take flight.
The decision to pursue a jewellery design course after marriage was both thrilling and intimidating. As a mother of two, I wondered if I could juggle my responsibilities while stepping into a new career. But my husband and in-laws believed in me. Their unwavering support became my strength, encouraging me to follow my dreams. The journey wasn’t easy. Late nights were spent sketching designs after putting my kids to sleep.
I balanced household chores with coursework, stole moments of quiet to practice intricate wirework, and slowly built confidence in my craft. As I refined my skills, I also started testing my creativity on a larger stage, participating in jewellery design competitions. These weren’t just about winning; they were opportunities to push boundaries, learn from others, and gain recognition. The accolades I received reaffirmed that my dedication was paying off.
Becoming a freelance jewellery designer and manufacturer gave me the flexibility I needed. My dining table transformed into my workspace, and the living room became my design studio. Every piece I crafted carried a piece of my journey—a testament to my perseverance and love for design.
There were moments of doubt when the weight of responsibilities felt overwhelming. But the joy of seeing my designs come to life, the sparkle in a client’s eyes when they received a custom piece, and the thrill of winning competitions made it all worth it.
My journey is proof that dreams don’t have expiration dates.
